Rene Maehr, 2014 Hood awardee, was instrumental in developing the induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cell technology that permits cells from individuals to be programmed to stem cells. He was recently named the Glass Charitable Foundation Term Chair in Diabetes at the UMASS Medical School for his groundbreaking work in the treatment of diabetes. Read the full story here.
